Esha Gupta in her apology letter to Nigerian footballer: I am sorry, was caught up in the game
Esha Gupta, who was slammed on social media for making racist remarks against Alexander Iwobi, the Nigerian footballer last week has penned an apology letter to him.
In the letter Esha wrote, ''I am extremely sorry for my ignorant action last Friday. Being an ardent fan of many years, I was deeply engrossed and caught up in the game."
According to IANS, she said she "clearly did not realise the racial undertone" from her friend's message, which she had shared on Instagram last week.
"For this, I am deeply regretful. I cannot begin to imagine how much I have hurt your sentiments. Racism has absolutely no place in my heart, and I promise you, for whatever it's worth, going forward this will never happen again," Jannat 2 actress said in her letter according to IANS.

The actress also wished Iwobi forgives for her "careless action".
Esha even wrote a letter to the Arsenal Football Club, wherein she wrote, "I hope the club can accept my humblest apology and give me the opportunity to make amends. I promise to be very responsible from here on."
In a tweet shared on the micro-blogging site, Esha Gupta was seen expressing her racist remarks on the footballer on her Instagram story.
"Solves our winger issues. I can't see that gorilla faced Iwobi running down the flank again. He's so bad ya,'' read the screenshot.
According to IANS, Esha's friend who was having the conversation with her on WhatsApp called Iwobi a "gorilla" and said that "evolution stopped for him". To that, Esha Gupta replied, "Haha... I don't know why they don't bench him more."
